Transform: Frustration or Failure

Getting our Bearings
- What change or transformation were you hopeful for as you pressed into this? What outcome did you expect?
- Would you say you were expectant, or did you set an expectation? (Remember, expectation is often "God, you were supposed to do X." In this case, we define God's goodness. Expectancy is "God, I know you are going to do a good work in me." We are aware of God's goodness and where he is working, but we are not setting an expectation of what that work should look like.

I feel expectant.
Sometimes, when we feel frustration or failure in change (even when we are expectant), it's because we didn't "scale properly." Let's go back to our Direction, Level of Intention, and Scaling Options for Grounding in Sonship
Our Direction
Let's start with our Direction for this Rhythm. Take a look at our "trail markers" or "objectives" below. Did you see these "trail markers" through the last few weeks? Why or why not? Spend some time being curious about this.
1. Remain in intimacy with your heavenly Dad (close, trusting relationship).
We need to be aware of where we may be moving into passivity or performance. Be intentional about asking "Why" as you step into this. Is it so you can grow in your relationship with your heavenly Dad? Or are you trying to achieve an outcome? The good fruit will grow as we pursue intimacy with our heavenly Dad.
2. Stay in the Zone of Tension (i2-i3 on our Intention Scale).
The more time under tension, the more difficult it will be to step into this rhythm, so choose a "scaling option" that meets you where you are spiritually. Image bearing will happen as you remain in the tension between "What I can do," and "What I can't do, YET."
3. Mercy, grace, and kindness toward yourself as you embody.
Remember, embodying any new rhythm takes time. In life, we learn to crawl first, then walk, and finally run. We don't learn to run as soon as our feet hit the ground. There is a kindness and mercy to this truth. God wants to grow and mature us, but that takes time and intentionality.
The adventure of learning to embody a life of grounding in our heavenly Dad looks different for everyone. That's okay. Give yourself mercy for that. Your "4" on the Levels of Intention may not be the same as my "4." You may be Walking in some areas where I am still Crawling, and I might be Running in some areas that you are Walking. No matter what, if we're hitting our effort level of "4," we're putting in the same amount of effort and work- time and attention.
4. We're Establishing a Rhythm.
As you step into this, our main objective is to establish a rhythm, NOT come out hot and act like we've been doing this for years. Because of this, we're going to focus on "sets" or the amount of times we sit down to ground our hearts in our True Identity, and the quality of those sets (eliminating distraction).
Our Level of Intention
Next, let's look at our Levels of Intention again, you'll see extremes on either end.

Sometimes, we jump into something new and hope we can do it without scaling. Most of the time, that's just not the case. Maybe the rhythm you chose in the "Trust Section" was too much and felt overwhelming. Maybe you were at i4-i5 instead of i2-i3 (our intended Level of Intention for Grounding in Sonship). That's okay; sometimes we overestimate our capacities. We don't often know what we can do until we try. If that's the case for you, spend a few minutes being curious as to why. Why did you choose the scaling option you did?
Other Opposition
Sometimes, when we don't experience the transformation God has for us. It's because we experienced opposition to that change that was too overwhelming. What other opposition did you experience these last few weeks? What impact did it have on your Grounding in Sonship Rhythm? Spend a few minutes reflecting and being curious.
Scaling Options
If you don't feel you went "in the right Direction," hit the wrong Level of Intention (over or under strained), and/or you experienced unforeseen opposition, let's think about scaling down for the next few weeks. Maybe it will help us.
Remember, focus on "quality sets," or the amount of times you "ground" and the quality (Alone. No distractions.) of time you spend grounding in these verses. Scale the "sets" before you change the what you do during those "sets."
- Running: 3x a Day for 5-6 days a week // Alone in a quiet place. No phone. // Read the 2 Identity Verses and Statements you chose from the Truth Section. What verse or statement sticks for the day? Stay with it. Ask your heavenly Dad, "What do you have for me in this?" Be present with Him. Let his words sink in and ground your heart. Jot down what you hear.
- Walking: 2x a Day for 4 days a week // Alone in a quiet place. No phone. // Read the 2 verses you chose from the Truth Section. Spend 2-5 minutes repeating the truths your heart needs from those verses. Be present with who God says you are. Let his words sink in and ground your heart.
- Crawling: 1x a Day for 3 days a week // Alone in a quiet place. No phone. // Read 2 of the verses you chose from the Truth Section. Spend 2-5 minutes repeating the truths you need from those verses. Be present with who God says you are. Let his words sink in and ground your heart.
- Want to Scale Higher? Increase time or "sets" with your heavenly Dad. Instead of 3x a day, do 4x a day, etc.
Why do I have Expectations?
- How do you release the expectation so you can be open to and receive God's goodness?
- What opposition pushed you into setting an expectation vs being expectant that God would show up? (fear of an undesired outcome, pride (this is how it should be), control, self-righteous (i know better), other people's expectations, duty and obligation, etc.)
- What does it look like to overcome that opposition?
- Can you do that on your own? Or can I (Chris) help? Let's jump on a call and talk about it further.
If you feel you have some clarity after that calibration time, click on "I feel expectant," in the green menu and go through that section.
