True North

Post by Chris Hartenstein
True North is our direction when we choose to take the deep questions of our hearts to our Heavenly Dad, listening intently to His answers and courageously following His voice. This and only this will lead us in the right direction towards the ultimate destination of our Journey. We must face the cold, hard truth; wanting something isn't enough. Even desiring something greatly does not mean that our desire will find fulfillment. It makes sense then that desire does not determine destination, our direction does. Wanting to go to Montana or Maui does not necessarily mean we are heading West! We must calibrate our movements Westward to go to those places. True North is the way we know we are heading in the right direction. As sons and daughters, there is a Spiritual Magnetic Pull created in our hearts to our Heavenly Dad.

"For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, "Abba! Father!" Romans‬ ‭8:14-15‬ ‭ESV.

Following the Holy Spirit's pull to our Father is the only way we move towards True North and the destination we were originally created to reach! ONLY He knows the way! Along the path, He will heal, grow, mature, affirm, initiate, and build us up as sons and daughters. As this happens, we will know who we are, why we are here, where we belong, and how to live life. In the end, this leads us to being and living as His son and daughter in freedom and fullness of life!

So we must ask, what direction am I heading? If it is not True North, where am I headed?
Calibration Questions:

  • To what or whom am I taking my deep heart questions about life? How is that working       out?

  •  Am I traveling towards True North? If not, where am I headed?

  • Do the answers to my deep heart questions (Who am I, why am I here, etc.) still seem                unanswered and haunt me?  What does this say about where I am taking my questions?

  • Take one step towards True North this week!
