Two Kinds of Loyalty

Over the years, I have observed that there seem to be two kinds of loyalty. Loyalty to the man and loyalty to the mission. It’s rare to see both in any one person. We either love the mission and would die for it but the leader is a little screwy or we love the man but, do not always agree with his mission. Either way, we live in a tension of loyalty.
Only one human had them both right, Jesus. He was a man we could follow and a mission that was the best ever. And yet he was killed for not being the man “everyone thought he should be” and for having a “mission not everyone could get behind.”
Calibration:
- Are you more loyal to the mission or the people?
- What sort of loyalty do you experience in your friends?
- How can you personally pursue more sincere loyalty considering Jesus’ example?
